When using GENIUS TOOLS Model Processor, the first step should be to clarify the purpose of reworking data: The most important questions are:
–What information from the models is needed?
–Should the models be analyzed or also modified?
–Should data be saved in the model, or are changes needed only temporarily, e.g. for data export?
The use cases that can be solved with GENIUS TOOLS Model Processor can be summarized into three categories:
Reporting
To analyze existing models, information is extracted and written to a report. No changes are made to models, see chapter Reworking models.
Objectives:
–Qualitative or quantitative information about model settings in existing data
–Preparation of documents for further data processing
Use Cases:
–Basis for any revision of model data
–Prerequisite for estimating the effort required for PDM implementations
–Prerequisite for assessment of proposed CAD work guidelines
Reworking model data
When overhauling models, changes are made to models and saved, see chapter Reworking models.
Objectives:
–Improving model data quality
–Compliance with work guidelines
Use Cases:
–One-time rework of legacy data
–Bringing model data up to company standards
–Continuous updating of model data
Temporary data changes
New or modified data is not saved in the models, see chapter Temporary data processing.
Objectives:
–Temporarily prepare or restrict model data
Use Cases:
–Extract selected information and save it in an export format
–Add additional information without modifying models, e.g., adding a QR code to drawings for export.
