Creating Reports

–Create reports to document the current state of your data prior to the revision.

–To obtain a meaningful snapshot of your data quality, select three large assemblies—each containing drawings—from different time periods for your reports.

–Retrieve only the data that is needed.

Settings in a task

–User variables and environment variables can be used in the input fields, e.g., %env:TEMP%\@date@_MDL_data.csv. The chapter Variables lists all variables.

–If you set a global user variable for your company name in the Resources section, the name can be used as a variable, e.g., in the file name: C:\TEMP\Creo\REPORTS\@date@_%user:COMPANY_NAME%_MDL.csv.

–For reports in batch mode, always specify CLIENT (this computer) as the storage location.

Before revising a larger amount of data

–Automatic scripts on the PC must be deactivated and if possible, all programs that are not needed should be closed.

–Windows Updates must be disabled.

–Check PDM server backup and shutdown phases to ensure that the PDM server does not shut down or perform backups that prevent work from being carried out on it.

–Check the Creo license server for backup scripts and shutdown times.

–Check startup TOOLS database and server for shutdown times.

–Users should set the following registry keys to prevent Windows error handling from running and waiting:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting]

"ForceQueue"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\Consent]

"DefaultConsent"=dword:00000001

Revision of large amounts of data in PDM systems

Within PDM systems, large amounts of data can be checked out automatically, but cannot be checked in automatically. Therefore, data from PDM systems should only be revised in manageable fractions of the total data volume.

In addition, Creo slows down noticeably with a large number of files in the workspace. Therefore, the number of files (note: instances are not files) should not exceed a reasonable amount. Depending on computer speed and disk capacity, a limit of 1500 to 2000 files is recommended.

When writing a report, the amount of data can be significantly larger. However, it should be noted that Creo also loses speed significantly when a certain amount of data is opened and logged. Therefore, a restart is also recommended here after approximately 1500 - 2000 files.

Automatic start of ProE / Creo Parametric with Startup TOOLS

To automatically start ProE / Creo Parametric with Startup TOOLS, the start command must be extended with -gts:p=projectname.

Environment Variables

The configuration option freeze_failed_assy_comp should be set to NO. If this variable is set to YES, this can lead to errors in assemblies, as faulty assemblies can then be loaded, revised, saved, and checked into a PDM system.
